The Curse of the Ass

Three of animals I pity:
Camel, dog
And ass.

Camel traverses the desert for man
Dog barks in the cold for man
The ass carries man’s burdens

Of the three, I pity most the ass
While the camel can bathe in the sand
And the dog lick fleshy bones
The ass is flogged all day long!
