They squirm in desolation, afraid to breath,
Many a careless exhalation have travelled unguarded
To the walled residences, embarrassing their stature
Thus they live on borrowed breaths
Neither inhaling nor exhaling
Drawing sketches of beautiful lands
In their minds
Lest they be executed
For stealing Picasso's paint brush
They have also learned to dream
Silently
Lest they be accused of
Harbouring Coup d'etat propensities
They walk with stooped shoulders
Lest they be tortured
For appearing brazen
They have learned to nail their thoughts
To mundane things like grocery and the sun
For many a careless exhalation travelled unguarded
To walled residences.

Happy Potluck!
There is a depth beyond your images, creating a wonderful flow. Nicely done.
ha! I do understand how society pushes us to conform, or to silence. Being different from the norm does have consequences. I enjoyed you offering to the potluck! :)

@ Abtthomas, coming from you, the master, I appreciate. Welcome to Lorot's Poetry. You write so well.
Wonderful language! And the poem is very transporting. It made me think of Saudi women unable to drive or even travel without written permission. Superb.
@ M.A.S, for you to finally grace my blog is an honour. Welcome to Lorot's Poetry. I also pity those Saudi women. They are chained in social prison.
this is wonderfully written. It is well thought out and it serves you well.
